In order to improve the resilience of Oceanic States and Territories to global changes, the RESCCUE project plans to support the New Caledonian government in reducing the environmental impacts of taxation and public subsidies on the Territory. Vertigo Lab, in collaboration with the University of New Caledonia, was selected by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community to:

– Identify the main negative environmental effects of taxation (including local and national tax exemptions, parafiscal and customs exemptions) and public subsidies in New Caledonia;

– Formulate concrete proposals for action with the aim of initiating changes in tax policies and in the allocation of public subsidies across the country;

– Assess the potential environmental, budgetary and socio-economic impacts of the proposed changes.
