Context
French industry and CAC 40: understanding their impact
For over 50 years, the role of industry in France has been steadily declining, and the country's trade deficit has significantly worsened.
In response to the challenges raised by this observation, in 2022, Vertigo Lab and the extra-financial rating agency EthiFinance collaborated to create a solution aimed at revitalizing French industry by assessing the socio-economic impact of CAC 40 companies on the territory.

Mobilization of a tailored pool of experts to address specific issues and expertise needs. The continuous decline of industry in France for over 50 years makes it difficult to reconcile ecological transition and reshoring. Industrial sector emissions must decrease by 45 % by 2030 compared to 2015 according to the National Low Carbon Strategy. In light of this reality, Vertigo Lab has developed a new measure to help financial actors steer their investment strategy by considering the local anchoring of the assessed companies.

The Made in France ranking is based on an adapted version of our ImpacTer model and the work was organized in 5 steps:
- Identification of the French subsidiaries of the studied groups (owned at more than 50%);
- Collection of financial data from the identified subsidiaries;
- Consolidation of the financial results of each group across France;
- Assessment of the socio-economic impacts in France;
