Territories

group 140

Territories are currently facing increasingly significant environmental pressures: climate change, resource scarcity, biodiversity loss, and tensions on food and water systems. These intensifying trends undermine local balances and exacerbate social and economic vulnerabilities.

At the same time, local authorities must make choices among many priority issues: ecological transition, territorial attractiveness, budget constraints, while also managing increasingly complex public policies with shrinking budgets.

In the face of these challenges, it is essential to have a systemic vision of the territory, to objectify impacts and dependencies, and to build integrated strategies that can articulate ecological transition, resilience, and local development.

Vertigo Lab combines systemic analysis and collective intelligence to help territories design grounded and operational strategies.

EXPERTISE

Territorial Strategy

Vertigo Lab addresses the main issues of territorial transition: climate, public policies, socio-economics, ecosystem services, water, and food resilience.

We help you transform these challenges into operational strategies and concrete actions for more resilient and sustainable territories.

Our services

Climate and decarbonization

Vertigo Lab assesses your carbon footprint and works with you to build your decarbonization trajectory.

We first conduct a climate diagnosis to evaluate CO2 emissions related to the activities of the territory or a given project. This analysis identifies the main emission sources and the priority action levers.

Based on this, we help you define a decarbonization strategy: evolution scenarios, identification of the most effective actions, analysis of the economic and territorial impacts of different trajectories.

We also mobilize multi-criteria evaluation tools to analyze the environmental, economic, and social effects of the proposed solutions, and to inform public decision-makers' choices.

Our team helps you implement a concrete, credible strategy tailored to the realities of your territory.

Public policy strategy and evaluation

We analyze public policies for ecological transition using a rigorous methodological framework. We implement monitoring and evaluation systems tailored to your strategic objectives, notably utilizing the six criteria of the DAC, the theory of change (or impact pathway method), as well as cost-effectiveness analyses.

Evaluation des retombées socio-économiques

Vertigo Lab supports local authorities and public actors in evaluating the socio-economic impacts of their projects, sectors, or territorial policies. This analysis helps to better understand the actual contribution of activities to local development and value creation in the territory.

We start by analyzing the economic flows generated by the studied activity (revenue, added value, jobs) to identify direct, indirect, and induced impacts within a jointly decided geographical perimeter.

From this data, we quantify the socio-economic impacts and highlight the territorial anchoring of activities, objectifying their contribution to the local economy and employment dynamics.

These analyses provide decision support elements and analytical tools to clarify public arbitrations, compare impacts between projects, and strengthen the management of territorial strategies.

Our goal is to provide public decision-makers with a clear understanding of the economic impacts of their choices, to better guide policies and investments in service of the territories.

We help you better understand and value the services provided by the ecosystems in your territory: water regulation, carbon storage, soil fertility, biodiversity, landscapes, and recreational and tourism activities.

Based on an ecological and territorial diagnosis, we identify and quantify these services to make visible benefits that are often overlooked in economic and public decisions.

These analyses highlight the real contribution of ecosystems to the well-being of territories and objectify the costs associated with their degradation.

We thus produce quantified elements and decision-making tools to prioritize preservation or restoration actions and strengthen arguments in favor of protecting life in territorial policies.

Vertigo Lab thus produces quantified elements and decision support tools to prioritize actions for preservation or restoration, and to strengthen arguments in favor of protecting living resources in territorial policies.

Water resource planning and management

We analyze the dependencies and pressures exerted on water resources to identify levers for shared and sustainable management.

Vertigo Lab also supports the definition of water management strategies, allowing for the reconciliation of agricultural production, preservation of natural environments, and adaptation to climate change.

Our analyses provide robust decision-making support elements to inform territorial policies, prioritize actions, and support the development of sustainable agricultural sectors.

Food Resilience

We analyze territorial food systems as a whole, at every link in the value chain. This approach allows us to identify dependencies, highlight vulnerabilities, and reveal key levers for action.

Vertigo Lab also supports local actors in defining their food strategy by constructing approaches tailored to local specificities.

We work with Territorial Food Projects (PAT) and local actors for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of their actions, in order to strengthen their impacts and tangible effects on the territory.

Finally, we offer training and awareness sessions to help actors better understand the issues and foster a collective dynamic towards action.
