Context
Strengthening the resilience of territories to climate change
The regional RESCCUE project aimed to enhance the resilience of ecosystems and societies in the Pacific island territories in response to global changes, through the implementation of integrated coastal zone management (ICZM).
One of its key objectives: to better mobilize economic analysis tools to inform public decisions, which are still underutilized in these territories.

Mobilizing economic analysis for ecosystem management
In New Caledonia, this approach has been realized at the local level through economic assessments of ecosystem services, cost-benefit analyses of biodiversity management scenarios, and the definition of financing mechanisms to support the implementation of these scenarios.
The work conducted included the assessment of ecosystem services in the Thiem watershed, the economic analysis of the benefits of managing the Touho watershed, as well as the evaluation of the services provided by the habitats of the pilot site.

This work has contributed to local discussions and strengthened the development of tailored management strategies, particularly in light of the impacts of climate change.
At the pilot site of the "Grand South" in the Southern Province of New Caledonia, the economic assessments led by Vertigo Lab were also intended to support the definition and implementation of a coherent strategy for managing the marine and terrestrial protected areas of the Grand South of New Caledonia.
