Exploring the potential of marine biomimicry in the Pays Basque

The Pays Basque Agglomeration Community has entrusted Vertigo Lab and Ceebios with the completion of a preliminary study for the creation of a center dedicated to marine biomimicry. Convinced of the importance of biomimicry and the leverage it provides for blue growth, the Pays Basque Agglomeration Community wishes to explore the opportunity of creating such a center of expertise as well as the nature of the activities that could be developed there.

A preliminary study to structure a center of expertise

Thanks to the results of the study, our team was able to establish a number of recommendations:

Build on existing investments and infrastructure and prioritize funding for human resources for the creation of the center. It is important to reassure stakeholders about the potential of biomimicry and to unite the actors.
Involve all local stakeholders from the outset: to promote acceptance and support for the project, as biomimicry may appear complex and somewhat closed to some, which needs to be opened up.
Avoid redundancy: there are already many networking networks, and the center must stand out.
