A European program to train a new generation of farmers
The European LEAN project (Learning on Entrepreneurship & Agriculture for New farmers) was a program funded by Erasmus+ to train new farmers without family experience in agriculture. Led by Vertigo Lab in Bordeaux from 2018 to 2020, it aimed to help them settle sustainably through biological agronomic and entrepreneurial skills.
Supporting sustainable and viable agricultural installations
It targeted young farmers attracted to sustainable agriculture by providing tools to develop their farms in an economically viable manner. The program combined technical knowledge (organic agronomy) and business management skills.
Educational resources accessible to all
Ten free online modules have been created, available in six languages, covering themes such as market gardening, beekeeping, viticulture, arboriculture, and marketing. Fifteen case studies of farmers from five countries (France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland) illustrated innovative best practices.
A recognized project and valued results
The project concluded at the end of 2020 with an event "Rendez-vous en terres fertiles" to present the results. Labeled as a "good practice" by Erasmus+ France, its resources remain accessible online to encourage the establishment of new entrants.
Relive our meeting in fertile lands where the project's results were presented throughout the day!
