Development of a tool to support local stakeholders in the food transition
Context
Equipping territories to manage their food transition
The MIRE project (Integrated Resilience Model) addresses the challenges identified by ADEME within the Transitions 2050 framework. It aims to strengthen the resilience of food systems in New Aquitaine.
ADEME wishes to develop an integrated model to assess the food resilience of territories, in order to guide strategic decision-making and evaluate Territorial Food Projects.
service
Modeling food resilience at the territorial level
The developed tool addressed several structuring ambitions:
- It allowed for the definition and measurement of quantitative indicators related to the different pillars of food resilience, while considering all stakeholders in the food system and the material flows that connect them.
- It also included a specific module aimed at ensuring healthy, local, and affordable food for households.
- Finally, it enabled the simulation of coherent prospective scenarios, based on a territorial adaptation of ADEME's Transition(s) 2050 scenarios.
BENEFITS
Building a robust and accessible tool for territories
The project relied on a consortium bringing together complementary expertise, composed of Vertigo Lab, MAELAB, and CNRA, with support from PQNA, the ETTIS laboratory (INRAE), and Bordeaux Sciences Agro.
A robust methodology that is easily adoptable by local stakeholders, particularly local authorities, was proposed.
This work encouraged the establishment of food policies tailored to local challenges, based on solid analyses and prospective scenarios.
