Evaluation of ecosystem services of the Rhue Gorges in Cantal
Context
Highlighting the importance of natural spaces in Cantal to guide their protection
Classified as Natura 2000, the Gorges de la Rhue have been a preserved natural space rich in biodiversity. To meet the objectives of the National Strategy for Protected Areas, aiming for 30 % of the territory under protection, including 10 % under strong protection, the Departmental Directorate of Territories of Cantal wanted to study the possibility of implementing a protection status. The need focused on presenting quantitative data to advocate for the protection of the Gorges de la Rhue through an economic evaluation of the ecosystem services provided by the site.
