EXPERTISE
Studies and expert insights
in agriculture and food
We stand out for our rigorous scientific expertise, our precision, and our neutral, systemic approach to understanding the complexity of ecological transitions.
The Vertigo Lab team is called upon to provide expert insights on major themes in agriculture and agroecology. Our studies highlight key data and informed perspectives to enable our sponsors and clients to guide their strategic choices and build sustainable transformations.
We help you decipher and reveal, so you can make a better shift.
Our services
Agroecological Transition
We prioritize a global and impartial vision. Our studies intersect economic, social, and environmental dimensions to account for complexities and provide objective insights. This allows public and private actors to plan a solid, effective, and measurable agroecological transition.
Financing mechanism
Vertigo Lab explores the financial mechanisms necessary to encourage the transition. Farmers who choose agroecology contribute to soil health, sequester carbon, preserve water, and enhance biodiversity. These individual actions yield benefits that have collective value.
As long as agricultural products are not compensated at their fair price, payments for environmental services (PES) could serve as a tool to compensate for this market failure, in order to value the environmental services provided by farmers.
PES schemes do not solve everything, but they can act as a structuring tool to support and secure the agroecological transition.
Food Resilience
We analyze territorial food systems as a whole, at every link in the value chain. This approach allows us to identify dependencies, highlight vulnerabilities, and reveal key levers for action.
Vertigo Lab also supports local actors in defining their food strategy by constructing approaches tailored to local specificities.
We work with Territorial Food Projects (PAT) and local actors for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of their actions, in order to strengthen their impacts and tangible effects on the territory.
Finally, we offer training and awareness sessions to help actors better understand the issues and foster a collective dynamic towards action.
Water Resource Planning and Management
Vertigo Lab analyzes the dependencies and pressures exerted on water resources to identify levers for shared and sustainable management.
We also support the definition of water management strategies that reconcile agricultural production, preservation of natural environments, and adaptation to climate change.
Our analyses provide robust decision-making support elements to inform territorial policies, prioritize actions, and support the development of sustainable agricultural sectors.
