A partnership to put accounting back in service of life

Inaugurated in 2019, the Ecological Accounting Chair supported by AgroParisTech aims to: develop, model, promote, and experiment with strong sustainability accounting to put accounting systems in service of an ecological transition.

Thinking about accounting differently: from finance to life

It aims to work simultaneously on the accounting of organizations (notably businesses), ecosystem accounting, and national accounting to enable a true ecological transition in strong sustainability of organizations, territories, and countries. Strong sustainability requires not allowing a priori substitutability between financial, natural, and human capital. More broadly, it refers to the idea of certain environmental preservation necessities. This involves designing the role of accounting systems as vectors of strong sustainability, hence the term "ecological accounting."

Vertigo Lab at the heart of scientific work

Drawing on its expertise in environmental economics, Vertigo Lab has joined the Chair to contribute to reflections and work. It is through Jean-Christophe Martin, a consultant-researcher and PhD in economics, that Vertigo Lab is now part of the Scientific Council alongside Harold Levrel, Alexandre Rambaud, Michel Trommetter, and Rémi Mongruel.
