Context
Highlighting the benefits of natural spaces to the general public
To preserve the natural heritage of the territory and raise awareness among the general public about environmental issues, the Department of Gironde has acquired sites to classify them as Sensitive Natural Areas. The need focused on showcasing the tangible benefits of these natural spaces for residents, the local economy, and the environment, in order to better promote the Department's actions.

Un outil d’auto-évaluation pour mesurer les services rendus par la nature
Vertigo Lab created a self-assessment tool to measure the benefits provided by Sensitive Natural Areas, and then identified and integrated ecosystem services into the tool. A quantitative assessment of the main benefits was conducted.

Autonomous actors to measure and highlight their impact
The mission allowed for a quantified and concrete highlighting of the benefits to facilitate communication with stakeholders, as well as to enhance the autonomy of departmental services through a tailored tool. It also helped to further raise awareness among local actors and the general public about the issues related to sensitive natural areas.
