For over 10 years, the Vignerons de Buzet have developed a viticulture that combines innovation, respect for Nature and Humanity, and economic profitability. They act daily by putting technology at the service of nature and wine to limit their environmental impact. With a focus on continuous improvement, the Vignerons de Buzet constantly seek to enhance their practices by working with and for Nature.

Building a bioinspired strategy and a payment for environmental services mechanism
With a focus on continuous improvement and proximity to Nature, the Vignerons de Buzet have called upon Vertigo Lab to assist them in developing a so-called "bioinspired" business strategy.
The first step involved conducting a bioinspired diagnosis, structured around the 6 axes of life: circularity, innovation, locality, optimization, connectivity, renewable energy. We notably mobilized our ImpacTer tool to assess the territorial anchoring of the Vignerons de Buzet.
In a second phase, based on the identified action levers, we assisted the Vignerons de Buzet in implementing a payment for environmental services (PSE) strategy. In line with its ambition for evolution and continuous improvement of viticultural practices, the cellar indeed wished to encourage and reward environmentally beneficial practices by compensating them.
BENEFITS
Measuring territorial impact and strengthening viticultural transition
The bioinspired territorial diagnosis revealed that:
- 1 salaried jobs at the Vignerons de Buzet generate 2,3 jobs in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
- The socio-economic impacts of the Vignerons de Buzet have been evaluated as being among the top 15% of economic sectors in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
- The payment for environmental services mechanism is being implemented in the vineyard, initially focusing on the pest control technique known as sexual confusion.
