Context
Deploy a biodiversity strategy for businesses in the city of Saintes
The purpose of the contract for the city of Saintes was to propose and facilitate a system, based on a specific methodology, to support a group of pioneering companies in the preservation of biodiversity.
The goal was to unite and support 5 "ambassador" companies from the region around biodiversity preservation, to conduct a diagnosis of their value chain and their impact on biodiversity, and then to co-create specific strategies broken down into action plans.
The support also aimed to capitalize on and disseminate lessons learned to other companies in the region.

Structure support in 4 complementary phases
A launch phase initiated a dynamic of trust and collaboration with stakeholders.
The first phase was based on a collective reflection workshop to integrate general concepts about biodiversity in France and New Aquitaine and identify key levers for action, while engaging in reflection within the companies, with the support of the partner Koncilio.
The second phase consisted of a qualitative analysis of biodiversity issues — impacts, risks, and dependencies on nature — throughout the companies' value chains, as well as a prioritization of issues for the five companies.
Finally, a third phase relied on a collective workshop for co-constructing concrete and tailored biodiversity action plans for the companies' activities, fostering the emergence of synergies among stakeholders and identifying cross-cutting issues, with Koncilio's contribution alongside Vertigo Lab.

The five companies in the city of Saintes and its surroundings covered by the study were Clinique sur Moreau, Agur, Hôtel Les Messageries, La Vie Claire, and Librairie Peiro Caillaud.
As the contractor, Vertigo Lab was involved in all phases of the mission.
Result: a biodiversity strategy for businesses in the city of Saintes that was built collectively, tested locally, and disseminated across the region.
