Poitiers-Biard Airport is a regional airport that significantly contributes to the economic attractiveness of the Vienne region, the Poitiers metropolitan area, and more broadly, the center-west of France.
In this context, measuring its socio-economic and environmental impact allows for an objective assessment of both its local benefits in terms of jobs and added value, as well as its pressures in terms of emissions, noise, and land artificialization.

Assessing the socio-economic benefits and environmental pressures of an airport
The mission had a threefold objective:
- First, it aimed to conduct an objective evaluation of the socio-economic benefits resulting from the operation of the airport platform and all related activities.
- It also involved establishing a comprehensive environmental diagnosis to assess the current functioning of the airport.
- Finally, it allowed for the identification of virtuous airport models that could inspire the evolution of activities at the platform.
BENEFITS
Equipping decisions and improving territorial acceptability
To carry out this mission, Vertigo Lab mobilized its ImpacTer tool to estimate the socio-economic impacts of the airport.
This approach was complemented by conducting the environmental diagnosis and by benchmarking more sustainable airport models.
Together, this provided insights for public decisions, guided the evolution trajectories of the airport, and strengthened its acceptability among local stakeholders.
