Study and promotion of sustainable food projects in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Context
Support a sustainable and solidarity-based food system in New Aquitaine
As part of its Neo Terra roadmap and to inform its Agriculture and Food strategy for Territories 2021-2025, the New Aquitaine Region sought to identify practices with high social and ecological utility in favor of a sustainable and solidarity-based food system.
service
Identify and evaluate local initiatives with a strong territorial impact
Vertigo Lab and Let's Food conducted a study on sustainable and solidarity-based food projects in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. We have:
- Identified, among the funded projects, those whose social and ecological practices have the most impact on the implementation of sustainable and solidarity-based food systems, particularly in market gardening;
- Characterized these projects with high social and ecological utility to specify project calls, remove barriers, and optimize the impacts of projects funded by the Region.
The first phase of the study thus consisted of a survey of sustainable and solidarity-based food projects in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Vertigo Lab then organized workshops with some of the project leaders and their stakeholders to deepen their territorial impact and contribution to a sustainable and solidarity-based food system.
The second phase of the study involves proposing options to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region to improve the support provided to these projects. The goal was to strive for greater efficiency in the current support systems of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region in response to the needs of project leaders.
BENEFITS
Propose avenues to strengthen regional support
By providing a socio-economic and environmental perspective, this study has refined regional public policies in favor of resilient, inclusive, and value-creating food systems.
It allowed the region to better understand the practices, barriers, and levers that determine the success of food projects with high social and ecological utility.
Following the study, from 2022 to 2023, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region commissioned PQN-A to enhance and disseminate the work done. Vertigo Lab was tasked with formulating recommendations to disseminate them to project leaders and institutional actors in the most effective way possible.
