Context

Accelerate agricultural transition in the catchment areas

The mission took place in a context of continuous degradation of drinking water resources in the priority catchment areas of the Grand Poitiers territory. Despite the Re-Sources initiative launched since 2009, pollution from nitrates and phytosanitary products persists, threatening the drinking water supply for nearly 200 000 inhabitants.

In this context, the regulatory framework has strengthened, particularly with the establishment of a ZCSE in the Fleury catchment area in May 2024, encouraging a rethink of existing aid mechanisms.

Grand Poitiers sought to accelerate agricultural transition through the establishment of a new financial support mechanism, complementary to MAEC, PSE, and other existing tools deemed insufficient.

The challenge was clear: to reconcile ecological performance with economic viability, particularly by supporting the development of local sectors such as hemp or miscanthus.

service

Design a suitable financial support mechanism

Vertigo Lab aimed to propose a more effective mechanism capable of addressing territorial specificities and the economic constraints of farmers.

We acted as technical leads for the group, providing expertise in agroecological mechanism engineering, territorial co-construction, and multi-actor facilitation.

The mission consists of designing the technical and operational mechanism, facilitating the "Direct Aid" working group, sizing the mechanism, and producing the associated deliverables.

BENEFITS

Co-construct an operational tool with local stakeholders

The working groups took place in November and December 2025, allowing for collective structuring of the contours of the future mechanism.

We achieved the creation of financial support for changing practices in the catchment areas, designed to be both effective, targeted, and actionable.
