Support for sustainable agriculture projects
Context
Pilot territories for more sustainable and participatory agriculture
The Avril Foundation launched in 2019 a series of calls for projects named Positive Agriculture Territories (TAP). These calls aim to restore a place for farmers, in connection with residents and local authorities, in the sustainable development of their territory.
A first call for projects 'Positive Agriculture Territories' in the Massif Central in partnership with the State was launched in 2019. For its second edition, the call for projects 2021–2023 focuses on the Adour-Garonne Basin and will be supported by the Water Agency and the State.
service
Connect, train, and enhance agricultural project leaders
In this context, the Avril Foundation selected Vertigo Lab and Transitions to coordinate the program and support the winners in deploying their projects. From April 2022 to early 2024, 18 agricultural and food project leaders in Nouvelle-Aquitaine will be supported to help them deploy their actions.
The support was based on three key areas: skills development and networking of winners through a training program combining collective workshops and individualized follow-ups; capitalization of best practices to strengthen the Positive Agriculture Territories community; and communication, which highlights the progress and synergies of the collective through regular dissemination on social networks and local press.
BENEFITS
Disseminate positive practices across agricultural territories
Beyond direct support to winners, this program contributes to fostering a collective dynamic around agricultural sustainability. Capitalization and communication actions allow sharing successes, amplifying synergies, and feeding reflections on the agricultural models of tomorrow.
Thanks to this approach of supporting sustainable agriculture projects, the lessons learned in Nouvelle-Aquitaine are already inspiring other territories engaged in agricultural transition.
